My Favorite Robot
'Wakinda Park - Art Department Edit'
My Favorite Robot Records - MFR042

Jonny White and Kenny Glasgow AKA Art Department take time out from their crusade for world domination to remix the My Favorite Robot classic 'Wakinda Park'. The record was initially released back in 2009 when the Toronto 3 piece were first making a name for themselves, it was a firm favourite with MFR fans, playing a central role on the debut Robots album and was released with a package of remixes. Fast forward to 2011 and it seems the world can't get enough of the sound of Toronto and so Messieurs Teej, Simms & Korab reach out to their musical kin Art Department for a remix on this much loved track. White & Glasgow are on fire at the moment and they certainly do not disappoint with this epic 10 minute reworking that twists the original track into a brilliant old school electronic workout. A must have for music fans everywhere!

Remain
‘La Rixe EP'
(incl. My Favorite Robot, Jonny Cruz, Drumatix Six, & Daniel Avery rmxs)
My Favorite Robot Records - MFR040

Having already had a superb year which has seen the Canadian imprint and it's roster featured in countless publications, dj charts and sets of the great and the good, My Favourite Robot are ploughing a highly individual, electro-tinged furrow of note. Remain, aka Romain Rouffiac, hasn't had a bad year himself. Clocking up releases with Family N.A.M.E., Throne of Blood and  on his own label Meant Records, he has won rapturous support from Ewan Pearson, Chloe, Agoria, LoSoul and many more with his freaky electronic vibes.
'La Rixe', in original form, is an arpeggio flecked house cut which shimmers with Remain's aforementioned electronic oddness. Synths flutter, snares blast white noise tails and LFOs and filters roam across the mix with a sort of gleeful abandon that makes the tune infectious from start to finish.

Class B Band
‘Strange Wolves'
(incl. Dead Seal & Darabi rmxs)
My Favorite Robot Records - MFR038

It’s easy to see why Class B Band’s music was so appealing to the good folks at My Favorite Robot Records. The Toronto based label run by Jared Simms, James Teej, and Voytek Korab has always had an open minded A&R policy to quality electronic music, but a love of slightly off kilter, dark edged vocal gems has consistently been at the heart of the imprints output. Class B Band’s richly textured productions fit the bill perfectly, with the Spanish duo of Beatmaster G & Bea Tricks delivering a stunning audio soundscape that is perfect for My Favorite Robot Records and all those who are devotees of the label.

Now they have taken time out to join up with MFRR for this superb new release.

Selected Feedback:

Clive Henry - “Chords & Knives is peaktime madness! Mint!”

Danny Howells - “Class Release, looking forward to some club action on this – thank you!”

James Teej - Fundamental Ep

My Favorite Robot Records teams up again with rising star James Teej for an EP that raises the musical bar once more.

Teej has been releasing records for just a few short years but in that time his name has become synonymous quality and lead him to releases on key European labels such as Rekids and Perspectiv as well as Canadian imprints No.19 Music and My Favorite Robot Records. As a remixer for the likes of Trentemoller and Solee Teej has received much acclaim whilst as a producer he has shown that he is not afraid to step outside the box as his recent cover of David Bowie’s ‘Space Oddity’ clearly displayed. Now Teej steps up to the MFR plate again with this stunning new release, Fundamental!

Mechanically Reclined - Compiled and Mixed by Phonogenic

My Favorite Robot Records pauses for a moment to reflect on its previous 22 releases with an eleven track compilation of the label's deepest moments plus one new track (due out September 10th) - an arresting collaboration between Sasse & Phonogenic featuring rising star James Teej's on breathless and sultry vocals. Other standouts include James Teej's reabsorption of David Bowie's 1969 hit "Space Oddity" as envisioned for the dancefloor by Toby Tobias, Kenny Glasgow's "Final Frontier", and the album's emotional closer "The Future Will Judge Us" courtesy of label founders -  My Favorite Robot.

The reason the Canadian label has risen to the forefront is due toan uncanny ability to balance pop sensibilities with a solid footing in the underground for tracks that are more than just dance fodder but rather a soundtrack for life. Few dance music labels have been so bold.

Purchasers of this album on Beatport will receive a bonus mixed version of the album courtesy of Phonogenic as our way of saying "thanks for your support".
